The Docents added a lot of information to the tour. What a place this must have been back in the 1800's.
The Dr. Josephus Hall House tells the story of Civil War Salisbury when there was a Confederate Prison in this city that was on the forefront of the Civil War in the western part of North Carolina. Period furnishings, wallpapers and finishes make this a truly magical experience.
Although this site was one of the main reasons for our visit to Salisbury from Charlotte, due to the weather advisory it was closed for the weekend; although the gentleman at the Visitor's Center was also not aware since he included it on our must see list of places to visit.
Excellent tour and only $5. If you're interested in history, you'll like this place. The couple that conducts the tour are personable and know the history of the house and the area. Almost all the furniture was purchased and owned by Dr Hall's family.. Check out the enlisted soldier's uniform on the second floor...not a reproduction. It is a rare... 更多
So many of the belongings in the house belonged to the family. The house was passed down daughter- to-daughter! They don't change things much from the way their family kept it.
