This is a great tour and well worth making the time to include on our travels. The Guide was interesting and well informed, as was the ranger at the kiosk. The strata was fascinating, and we saw crocodiles.
It was too hot to do the long walk so we did a couple of the short walks. Plenty of bird life was down by the river and a couple of freshwater crocs were waiting for something to happen in the water. Read the information in the kiosk in the carpark and marvel not only at the natural history but... 更多
An easy drive from Fitzroy Crossing, Geikie Gorge is well worth visiting. There are two or three boat trips per day, with well informed and interesting guides. The scenery is just spectacular, and we saw lots of wildlife too - freshwater crocs basking on the rocks, wallabies on the banks, and lots of birdlife. There are also several short self... 更多
We did the 3pm tour and we didn't get back to Fitsroy crossing until dark. A little daunting, as we had a fair distance to go until we stopped. Lots of wallaroos jumping across the road. So, if driving, consider booking something closer. The gorge itself was spectacular. We had a beautiful day, and the saltwater crocs were out sunning... 更多
We set off on this spectacular baot trip on a calm, hot late afternoon. It is an east 20km drive from Fitzroy Crossing to Geike Gorge NP. This NP is for day stay only, no camping permitted. The large area has plenty of parking. lovely shady trees that attract an array of birdlife. There are a number of walks from... 更多
Geikie Gorge is absolutely stunning. I recommend taking the boat tour, your guide will have so much information to share. You will take a thousand photos and not one of them will do the place justice. Nice climb up to the lookout at one end of the tour. Just go there.
Once upon a time this area was all under water and the gorge itself would have formed an underwater marvel much like todays Great Barrier Reef! The limestone walls provide a remarkable vista. The white and mottled coral walls are truly a spectacular site, another demonstration of the power of nature and time. Well worth a visit.
The road to Geike Gorge is sealed and an easy 20min drive from Fitzroy Crossing. The boat tour guide was enthusiastic and told us some interesting bits of info. We bought our tickets at the Gorge. The site has clean water toilets as well as information walls about the area, it's geology and fauna. Great spot.
Geikie Gorge National Park is a short drive from Fitzroy Crossing and we hiked a couple of the walks and did the gorge cruise on the boat as that was a great way to see it and avoid crocs. More rocks and rock formations and rocks and rocks and rocks, still geologically its neat to see what nature makes. Worthwhile... 更多
The white limestone cliffs are absolutely stunning. My favourite gorge from our travels. We did the boat tour even though we had our own kayaks because you're not allowed on the water while they are, so it makes timing very tricky. I think I would prefer to kayak the gorge, so I can view the stunning cliffs without going under... 更多
