This gracious building provides a serene backdrop for a leisurely picnic. Considering the scant funds available to pay for the upkeep of this historical delight, it is in fine shape. The gardens are lovely. Please keep this historical site available for all members of the public to enjoy. [Mirandaaaa!!!!]
highly recommend a visit - it took us 2 hours to wander through the building....fantastic ! the gentleman who welcomed us at the entrance was very informative.
Well worth a visit to see this beautiful house in the Australian countryside. Would love to have seen it in its heyday. Some of the old family photos are gorgeous showing the house in use as a family home. Some beautiful furniture and household items n display.
What an unbelievable place. There is a fee to pay but was minimal and we'll worth the cost. Being a Downton Abbey fan I found this place a small Abbey. We went on a very cold day and the hall itself was freezing - we were in awe of the fortitude of the original occupants! It is an elegant Georgian building decorated with original furnishings. The guide was very pleasant and helpful. It is certainly worth a visit.
There is a lot to view and learn about this historic mansion and the families who lived here. I haven't seen such an eclectic collection of artefacts outside of the UK. We took our time to view the premises and ask questions of the staff.
Made special trip to mintaro to visit martindale. They had signs in 3 places out on highway and roads to the place. But when got there .closed...understand reasons why. Just wish they took down their signs everywhere (saying it was open)
A lovely historical house that allows you a glimpse into the past. Beautifully decorated authentic rooms with interesting stories and information.
This historic "mansion" was our second visit -the last some 25 years ago. We found that all the rooms were identified and we were able to picture the Mortlock family living there and hosting parties, etc. Gracious rooms and lovely atmosphere. Martindale Hall is well worth a visit, and not far from historic town Mintaro.
I will never forget the beautiful library. All the books of the last owner still on the bookshelves. Mementos of WW2, trinkets and souvenirs of a life. There's even a well loved teddy bear in the child's room. It's like stepping in to visit but finding that the owner is not home right now, but will be coming back later.... 更多
