Taylors Wines is a strong family wine brand with an impressive roll call of award winning wines. The Taylor family’s vineyards are just outside of the tiny township of Auburn in the picturesque Clare Valley. These vineyards were first purchased by Bill Taylor Snr, together with his in sons, Bill and John, in 1969. Originally, wine merchants, all three Taylors were singularly passionate about wine and set out to find the perfect piece of land to establish in the Taylors wine name. Inspired by the great producers of Bordeaux, it was their vision to create a Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia that would rival the best in the world. From the outset, Taylors have aimed to honour the outstanding fruit produced as a result of the unique Clare Valley terroir. Our winemaking philosophy centres on the knowledge that if you ‘respect the fruit’ you can preserve the delicate nature of those elements we enjoy most about wine; the flavours and aromas. This is how we can achieve the seemingly contradictory outcome of ‘enormous delicacy’ or ‘massive finesse’ when it comes to the flavour and structure of our wines.
Taylors Wines are branded as Wakefield in the northern hemisphere due to trademark restrictions held by the owners of Taylors Port.
