My family and I visit here a lot,this past year we stayed at a house that was a walking distance from the Ocracoke Lighthouse and it is very beautiful and relaxing. This is definitely a place you would want to be with your family and/or friends.
It's a pretty light house. But sitting next to Lighthouse you don't have a view of the ocean. Lighthouse itself is in use and therefore closed to the public. So you really can't go inside and see anything.
When you are in Ocracoke, it is hard to not notice the lighthouse which is the second oldest operating lighthouse in the nation. Access to it is easy for anyone. This lighthouse is beautiful. It has a very unique look. Unfortunately, you have to look at it from a distance behind a fence. You can't enter it or climb to the top. Gorgeous lighthouse but not available to climb up or open at all. We were able to look and take photos of the outside but only plan to spend 10-15 minutes here. It is located in the heart of neighborhood with just a couple parking spots. We rode our bikes and there was ample bike racks available.
