This is a home-grown museum, to be sure. It's on the main drag in Morehead City, across the bridge from Outer Banks towns such as Atlantic Beach, Pineknoll Shores and Salter Path. Close to Fort Macon, also. I brought my 11 year old son, my 9 year old niece and my twin three year old boys. The littles were free... 更多

we stopped by and enjoyed the nice exhibition of local naval history. It is always impressive how enthusiasm and some good organization with some exhibits can form a museum like this. A donation and show of a local boat wharf completed that visit. the visit is worth for a family with kids.
This is a great little museum that centers on the local history of the area. It is a free museum, too. Great way to spend a hour and learn a bit more about Carteret County. The facility also hosts numerous other events, like weddings, craft fairs, meetings, etc.

Some construction is going on inside for new displays and the auditorium area. There are lots of boxes piled up throughout the hallway and visible in other rooms and offices.... 更多
My family enjoyed visiting the History Place & learning alot about the history of locals. There are all of hands-on interactive displays where kids can dress up or pretend to be the historian. Very good for families with young children.
