We decided to take a detour on the way to Linville Falls to stop at Linville Caverns. There are trout swimming in the stream that flows out of the caverns. This is actually how it was discovered in 1822 by local fisherman. It has also been the home of Civil War deserters who used the caverns as a hideout. It... 更多
The tour would have been so much better if we had a guide who would have #1 spoke up so everyone could hear, #2 had the balls to tell the 5 cackling teenagers to shut the hell up so the rest of us could enjoy the tour. The cost and the tour were OK. If I'm in the area again... 更多
Great place to take kids. Our tour guide was very informative. The tour was long enough to experience the cavern without being too long to hold the kids attention. We also went to Linville Falls just a short drive from the cavern. A short walk (.5) mile to see a pretty falls.
Took 8th graders for a field trip on Monday. I had never been before and it was different than I thought. They have railings so most places you can hold on. The stories our guide told were interesting and to know you were eight football fields underground was just wild. Some of my kids were nervous and said they were... 更多
Nice little trip. If you are clostrophobic or don't like being close to other people, you may be uncomfortable at times. There is water that randomly drips on you. And put everything valuable in your pocket when you stand over the water. It is pretty cool though. Our tour guide made it fun. A good mix of history and science.... 更多
The cave was great. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. The outside area was very beautiful. We even had a picnic after the cavern tour. The guide talked a little too fast though. I recommend this tour if you are in the area.
There aren't many caves in NC so it's fun to have this one to stop at. I love driving around western NC looking for waterfalls to hike to but that isn't as fun if it is raining or cold - although sometimes it pays off. I had my four year old with me this time though, so the caverns were... 更多
A bit of a drive from the Black Mtn/Asheville area but the scenery was so beautiful that we took secondary roads to get there. Pretty friendly staff. Our tour guide was droll and ironic and rehearsed but it was better than having a totally disinterested person doing it. Not something I would do again but would recommend for anyone with... 更多
Orion was a wonderful guide! Even our teen girls enjoyed the tour. Beautiful cave, interesting stories and history, and the stream that runs through it is lovely....all for $8!
Always enjoy going to the caverns. It’s a unique place for us to take out of town guest to visit. Staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. On a hot day it is a nice cool place to go. Average temp. runs in 60’s year-round. If it has been raining a lot you should bring a jacket or they do... 更多
