We hiked about 3 miles and saw the gorge from many different views. I really enjoyed it. You can park in the lower parking lot which is paved or go about .3 miles and park in gravel lot. Great geology lesson. I read about it on internet while we were walking. You can eat at Famous Louises when you leave.... 更多
See my review of Linville Gorge for more details. This area is absolutely stunning, and well worth a day spent exploring the falls and surrounding woods. Don't miss it!
We stopped by to walk to the falls. I read you can take 3 different paths the falls. Easy, moderate or strenuous. I guess we didn't look at the routes very well and ended up taking the strenuous walk.. The path was not marked once you were on it or approached it. We just followed everyone else across the bridge.... 更多
Love this area of NC. ❤️ Hope it will forever be protected and preserved! Very little cell service. Most of the area is only accessible by foot travel. Be prepared with maps, compass, flashlight etc. as the area is a true wilderness area.
Drove to Linville Gorge, wow what a drive but, it was well worth it!! The gravel road at times was pretty bad, I didn't think I would make it, but I did, and it was absolutely amazing ! Such a beautiful view, I would probably do it again! But next time I hope I am driving a four-wheel-drive!
The hike to see the falls is more than a mile up a fairly steep grade. I would highly recommend atleast good walking shoes or boots. Probably not for small children or elderly. Once we arrivedat the falls overlook I had hoped the they would be more spectacular. It was a long way out of our way to see them.... 更多
Nice 1-2 hour hike. Could be a bit strenuous for those who do not watch their footing or cannot left knees as there are numerous tree roots in the pathway. It is suitable for all ages, including seniors.
