Nice place to visit for some quick history of the area. Staff available to help you pick hiking trails & maps available. Not place to stop & rest before you head into the mountains. Defiently visit the village. Also restrooms available.
stopped by to let my grandchildren see this place. its free, they loved it the oldest who is 10 was showing his little brother 6 how they did it back then that was so cool to see
Spent the day exploring, the river is right there also. Lots of things to learn. Very nice area. Take a picnic to enjoy. Nice restrooms, you might get to see Elk and wild turkeys in the field. Can fish or float in the river....peaceful and relaxing
It's free, which is nice. If you're willing to stop and spend the time in the visitor center, it's worth taking 20-30 minutes to walk out to the farm; but keep expectations low. Interesting historic area which has an ice visitors area. Lots of walking to see it all. Did offer a chance to see elk if you were there morning or evening which was a bonus.
The grounds that these buildings are set on are beautifully maintained. The stream running next to the walking path provides a great backdrop for pictures. The buildings are meticulously restored and it is interesting to see how folks from that time lived and worked. The Visitor's Center is a short drive from Cherokee, NC. If you are in the area... 更多
A stroll around the Mountain Farm Museum at the Oconaluftee Visitor center near Cherokee, N.C. is educational, beautiful and exciting. It is a great place for creating new memories while re-visiting the past.
This is a worthy stop before you head into Smoky Mountain National Park. The farm is an excellent history lesson for what it was like to survive back in the day. Hint: use this as a special opportunity to teach the children about the various parts of the community. Go in the morning and see the wild Elk on the... 更多
The Mountain Farm Museum is adjacent to the visitor's center near the entrance to Great Smokies National Park. You come upon it after passing an open field often populated by elk. The museum itself has a collection of buildings from the farmhouse to the barn including an apple house and the smokehouse (the one building that generally had a lock... 更多
