While traveling through the Smoky National Park, we quite literally stumbled across this site. Stopped for the restroom area in the gift shop, and then stayed to view the grounds. There is an exhibit of an old farm out back of the visitor center where you can see how people lived and farmed before modern conveniences. It is a free exhibit and very pleasant. Beside the center is a big field where you can see lots of Elk in the morning and then again in the late afternoon early evening..... 更多
My wife and I stop by this museum when we stop at the Oconoluftee Visitor Center. Its a great place to take a walk and see how early settlers lived. The paths are an easy walk around the re created farm and along a stream. Well worth the time with some interesting displays.
A Must See! this is a great place to take kids.Very educational for older kids and adults too. Love to see all the history and people playing their rolls.
Located behind the Visitor's Center, the museum is a collection of well preserved buildings showing how people lived in the mountains many years ago.
This is an enjoyable place right behind the Oconaluftee Visitors Center. There are walking paths and markers with information to read about the way people lived in the mountains many years ago. The home and all of the out-buildings are really neat. It is a place for people of all ages to enjoy.
When you arrive here, you are amused by the simple life a lot of people lived or are still living. I have experienced life in a country side and big cities - so I could easily related to the exhibits. The place gives you a glimpse of majority of earlier lifestyles.
