For a park run by Charlotte (or maybe the surrounding county), this is very nice--up there with state parks. The indoor facilities weren't open when we got there, so we took a nice stroll on one of many trails. And there is some elevation, so be aware of that. But by the time we got back, the nature center was... 更多
The park offers free admission to the nature center. There was a few local wildlife animals on display. The kids, a few years ago, signed out one of their nature backpacking kits and went down to the nearby stream. Here, they were able to catch a few salamanders (catch and release). We have walked on the trails through the woods... 更多
The staff of the Nature Centre are wonderful. There are self-guided scavenger hunts that kids can do. Once completed, they will earn themselves a little prize. There are picnic tables and grills. Great view of Lake Wylie. Overall, it's a very nice place to visit. We come here often.
McDowell Park is located just south of Charlotte within view of SC. The campground is neat and tidy offering full hook-up to primitive camping. Fire rings and picnic tables are included with most RV sites. Ice and firewood are sold at the office for a reasonable price. Mecklenburg county residents get a nice discount. Walking trails abound but mind the... 更多
Worst RV park ever! The electric is supposed to be 50 amp but it doesn't work on this site. Nor does 30 amp. Customer service at this park is horrible! No one could get our electrical box to work. We asked for electrician and they sent us park rangers who know nothing about electrical. So we had no other option... 更多
Charlotte does a good job making the woods accessible to the community. Find a trail or just pack a picnic and get the family outdoors. Many picnic areas are within 2-3 minute walk from your car. But other trails are more rigorous and fun.
We visited on a Sunday morning and the nature center didn't open until one on so I can't speak to that, but the little playground area (stay left until you reach it once driving in the entrance) was a great stop for my little ones. Several different climbing structures and slides as well as monkey bars and a couple of... 更多
Awesome free day with the kids. The Nature Center is small but there is enough to keep the kitties ones busy for 30-45 minutes. They have live turtles and snakes and such. There is also two play grounds for the kids. If you have bigger kids then the walking trails are really good. Lots of walking to do. Overall this... 更多
