The NCBG features plants, trees and shrubs that are native to North Carolina, including pitcher plants and native ornamentals. Pleasant for a stroll and also educational, there is also a childrens garden, an herb garden and garden sculptures.
We live near one of the country's finest botanic gardens, so we are somewhat jaded. Yes, the North Carolina Botanical Garden is smaller than what we are accustomed to, but it is so very well done, and so interesting! There are habitat display areas that represent every type of climate and geography in the state - mountains, beach, etc -... 更多
As a grandparent, we love to take the kids on nature trails and get their hands dirty catching bugs and looking at different types of flowers and trees. This place is great for a day away from the pool.
3 hours from home and had thought of coming here many times. OMG gardens with several themes well laid out and maintained. Helpful staff and beautiful native plants to bring home. Will be back next month to see the changes in the garden.
The botanical Gardens are nice during the blooming season. Has nice pathways and all plants are well marked. Very nice gift shop and educational materials.
Love the weekly 'what's in bloom' table outside the main lobby. It acquaints you with local native plants. The regional gardens; bog, coastal, mountain, Piedmont, teach what is grown in each area of our diverse state. Native plant sales, educational programs, art, green building techniques..too much to see in one visit.
More modest than the Duke Gardens, but more manageable if time is limited. More easily accessible, too. Volunteers are very friendly, gift shop is easy to navigate. Surprising twists and turns in the various walks, and a very naturalized feel to it, not so formal. Lots of birds, serene escape so close to downtown and campus in Chapel Hill. On... 更多
I have been to the gardens many times, for a quiet walk, to buy local plants, to get inspiration for my own garden and to learn about the local plants and trees
We have traveled all over North Carolina. These gardens have plants from each of the diverse regions of the state. What fun! It is easy to get lost on the trails, which is also fun. We did not travel to Durham/Chapel Hill to see the gardens, but while we were there we went to see them and had a great... 更多
