Having a railway enthusiast husband I have travelled on trains all round the world but this was the most enjoyable. The entertainment and information given was excellent and made for such an enjoyable day. The service was great, friendly but not obtrusive and the views we passed were some of the best I've seen. To end what had been a... 更多
Now that my wife and I are slipping more into retirement we have decided to start traveling old railroads. The GSMR was fairly close for us and in a section of country we love dearly, the great Smokey Mountains. We took the First Class option and thankful for having done so, The ride and the scenery were beautiful. However, there... 更多
Check in was easy and a nice station where they have photographers to take your picture in front of the engine, of course for purchase later. Boarding was a breeze, even with small children. There is access to food once on board such as popcorn, hot dogs, soda/coffee and more. We were on the open gondola style train. Great for... 更多
By all means my husband had to ride a train on our recent trip to North Carolina so I booked a trip on the Nantahala Excursion since this was the only one running at the time. I knew it would be a bad trip when they had passengers from at least 4 different cars loading at one entrance. I really... 更多
A great trip. Call for reservations and your parking is included. On line res. do not include parking($5). Veterans get 20% discount. Your ride ticket also gets you into the museum of modelRRs. Do not miss the museum. The Nantahala ride was very scenic.
I am a big fan of excursion trains and have found very few I didn't enjoy. This one is no exception. It is a very pleasant ride along the banks of the Nantahala river. As many have mentioned, the views are on the left side going out. There are various options for the types of cars to ride in with... 更多
My husbsnd and I took the Macneil first class car on 4/2/15 and really enjoyed ourselves; our hostess was WONDERFUL attending to all our needs. We too got a table on the right side of the train, and it is true the views are not as good; the hostess did suggest right off that we could switch sides to get... 更多
The train, the personnel, the scenery, the passengers were all so great. We took our son, grandson and daughter-in-law and snapped about 2oo pictures. Bear caves, waterfalls, bridges, the river, forest, the view, the view, the view. The train museum was awesome, too! Take the time to slowly go through after the ride.
My sister in law had never experienced this excursion, so we went for a girls weekend away to Maggie Valley, NC and rode the rail from Bryson City to the Nantahala Outdoor Center! Great experience everyone was very helpful. We are planning another trip in June to come again!
Our seat was C&D side which is the mountain side which has no view at all. The seating was very cramped.I was accidentally kicked several time by a small child. If you still want to go insist on tickets on the A&B side of the train.I will never go there again. I paid $156.00 for two discounted tickets. We were robbed.
Unfortunately we had not consulted any Trip Advisor reviews before purchasing our tickets for this train journey from Bryson City to the Nantahala Outdoor Centre, so we ended up on the "wrong" side of the coach (the right side when facing forward) for viewing the rivers and lakes, there being only a couple of occasions when the heads on the... 更多
