Great attraction for the town of Beaufort, North Carolina! Tells the story of the coastal life of the residents of Carteret County, North Carolina. Many neat exhibits and nautical equipment.
The site is still being worked. This museum was fabulous, creative and interactive. See an unusual rescue bean pod like metal rescue boat from the early 1900's and more. Free admission.
It was one of the more interesting museums we have been to. The history of Blackbeard was intriguing. The artifacts recovered off the coast of Beaufort, NC, have been authenticated, restored painstakingly, and artfully displayed. We watched a movie on Blackbeard which showed how ruthless he really was. We spent several hours there. This museum exhibits one of those rarities... 更多
I was amazed at the amount of information included in this museum. No charge for admission but they take donations. There were many pieces of history in this museum and more than enough literature and facts about them. There's something for all age ranges. Highly recommended if you're in the area. Fun little museum with lots of history and a nice library. Good place to get out of the sun for a while and relax. Many displays and a neat boat building shop across the road. Staff is friendly and the location is easy to get to. Got see it at least once. Admission is free.
We have been to the N.C. Maritime Museum several times over the years. They do not charge admission, but do accept donations. Besides information on Blackbeard, the museum has a nice collection of maritime items found in coastal North Carolina. While there, stop across the street at the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center where you can still see craftsmen repairing... 更多
I will be honest, I was mainly visiting to see the artifacts recovered from Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge. However, they have a lot of other cool maritime pieces that intrigued me as well. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The museum is small but very well laid out.
