I was so impressed with the number of artifacts that this little museum had. There are four buildings, 1 with types of transportation and an iron lung, one with meds, tools and dental equipment, and the gift shop/ short video room. I'd definitely recommend this stop.
Leeches for blood letting! Opium mixtures for colicky babies! Foot-pedal-operated dental drills! Horses and buggies for travel to patient homes! Iron lungs! These are only a few of the ah-ha moments from the tour of the Country Doctors Museum. There's a glimpse into pharmacy operations, the education of doctors, a doctor's office, dental practices, and nursing preparation in one building.... 更多
We became aware of this place from seeing the signs while enroute to visit East Carolina University. We later discovered that it is actually now owned by ECU, and when our Corvette club decided to plan a day trip there, we were eager to go check it out. The museum is two buildings that were actual doctors' offices 100 years... 更多

We saw a listing for this museum in the “Off The Beaten Path” book published by Readers Digest. Since we were in the area anyway to see another listing called the Whirligig town of Wilson NC, we decided to give it a try. It was a rainy day and we were the only guests, so we had a personalized tour.... 更多
Because we visited on a weekday morning, our family was fortunate to have the tour guide and the museum to ourselves. This facility has several items on display that you've only read about in books. My children were able to see leeches swimming in a glass bowl, an iron lung, and medical tools dating back to the Civil War era,... 更多
Visited with my 3 boys (11, 9, 9) and we really enjoyed the experience. The staff is wonderful! They were full of information! I especially enjoyed all the stories they told! I would definitely recommend stopping in for a visit if in the area. I am so glad that we did.
