This is one of the best most worthwhile hikes i have ever taken, can't recommend it enough. You can take it stages or power right on up, great views from the tower and the cliff edge past the ranger station.
I highly recommend a fall visit when you have the fall colors and cooler temperatures than the summer. Be sure to watch out for deer and other wildlife especially near sunrise and sunset. I lived near there four years and graduated from high school in Boiceville.
Keeps going up and up, but the summit is really worth it -- first the "ruins," then the metal watch-tower from which you can see a long long ways. The beauties on the way up -- the lichens, mosses, large chunks of slate rock, little trickling streams, great trees -- make this a wonderful walk in any season. If you... 更多
This hike is not for the faint of heart - when they say "moderate" it is a heavy ascent. But with your hiking boots/shoes and plenty of water you'll really enjoy the view once you arrive. Plan on 2 hours up if you go straight and another hour down - longer if you take any stops along the way. The... 更多
Not for everyone. You might say the hike is moderate difficulty if you're a hiker. It's a relatively steep climb through woods, no views, and then spectacular at the top. Good walking shoes, water. Crowded.

The hike up the mountain is pretty boring because there is no vista to speak off but the climb will make your heart race as you gradually climb to... 更多
We were visiting Woodstock for the weekend and wanted to get in a local hike to check out the views. The trail to overlook mountain was very easy to get to via the main street in Woodstock. The hike itself was a mildly strenuous hike and definitely got the heart rate going. Once we made it to the old abandoned... 更多
Overlook trail is an old road that leads to a hotel ruins and then on to an overlook. The trail itself lacked a nature feel given it was clearly a road with electric wires running along the path. The ruins were cool to explore. Do not be deceived however, the ascent may challenge your cardio fitness. The incline is the... 更多
We have hiked it two or three times. Every time I say, "OMG, why am I doing this?" (We are out of shape over 40s) It's not a trail, but a rutted straight-up-the-mountain road. But then We get to the top. The view is fab. The ruins of the old hotel are interesting. Saw snakes. I hear there's a lake... 更多
