There are great views and a lot of history, I have been to Fort Wadsworth several times and never has it been overly crowded which is really nice. It's a very peaceful and relaxing enviroment. Located under the Varrazano-Narrows Bridge offers a historic masonry fort with a nice overlook. Free to visit.

Amazing place, great place to satisfy that photograph in you. make sure you take one of the different tours with park rangers. The best one is the one inside the forth at night with lanterns you can find the schedule on their Web site and also don't forget to visit forth Tompkins that's just under the bridge.
The sights at the old fort are quite nice, but it's when you look out over the Narrows and see the different views of the Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn and the City that you realize this is truly a special place to visit
