Bring a camera. From the overlook, you can get GREAT pictures of the Narrows, the Verrazano bridge, and the inside of the fort. Fort Wadsworth was first used during the Revolutionary War, and one of the oldest military structures in the US
I've seen the fort from the Verrazano Bridge and decided to drop in to see if it would be worth while to take Scouts to. It appeared that theNational Park Visitor Center wasn't yet open to the public - soon I hope. And the information signs were not plentiful. By April/May 2017 I hope it will be ready to visit... 更多
This is a lovely park on the north shore of Staten Island , the park is closed at dusk and there are no lights but during the day the views of Manhattan and Verrazano bridge are amazing here. I took the staten island ferry and afterwards a bus line with the metrocard (15/20 minutes) just outside the ferry port.
I bring all out of town visitors to this park. You need your walking shoes to explore the grounds. We bought our lunch and ate at the highest point overlooking the city. We even saw the Queen Mary sailing from the NYC pier that day. It's a must see. We drove our car there it's free.
What a welcoming community. We found it very easy to get around walking and using the city bus system. The Navy Lodge serves the purpose well. Within walking distance to restaurants and bus stops all around. Clean community.
For history buffs, Ft. Wadsworth goes back to Revolutionary days. Battery Weed is especially cool For tourists, the views of the Verrazano Bridge, and the NYC skyline are beautiful. Look up the schedule for walking tours ... well worth your time and shoe leather. For casual walking around, your choices include historic structures, bird-watching, a stroll on the beach, and... 更多
