Go on a weekday morning. Parking availability better. Very well done. Beautiful walkway along Hudson and great view from the "Walkway." Make sure to take the free elevator.
I didn't actually get to walk over the bridge since I was getting married, but nearly our entire wedding party did and they all came back raving about the experience and with some pretty awesome pictures. Make sure to stop and eat at Lola's which is right at the foot of the walkway... they have the best food in town!
It is really beautiful to see everything in bloom after the winter. This would also be a great short bike ride. I can't wait to come back again, especially in the fall for the leaves turning.
Highly recommend a stop and if you have a bus group pay the bit extra to be dropped off at the elevator drop off. A guide met us there where there is a beautiful park with benches under trees right on the river and took us up a short walk to the elevator. For our senior citizens this was perfect... 更多
The Walkway is every high. The views of the Hudson are grand. If you are in Poughkeepsie, dont miss this. It is a converted railroad bridge. It is what the locals use to relax, jog, walk and spend time with family and friends.
Take an easy stride over the Hudson, read the posted descriptions giving a touch of history, and meet and greet others, and take note of all the terrific views. A big Plus for the area.
It was a neat bridge with a lot of history, but honestly it is just a really long bridge. The scenery was not all that spectacular. You do get nice views of the river and the occasional boat. There are signs periodically that tell about the bridge and the adjacent bridge. The end of the bridge is just a rather... 更多
We decided to take a walk after breakfast and our relative suggested the Walkway Over The Hudson. Great views of the river and the crowds were light.
I really wanted to do this because it sounded cool, and it was cool. It's a really easy walk over the pedestrian bridge with nice views and really high fences on either side so you don't have to worry about falling in the water. This seems like a good activity for people of all ages including young kids.
Our family took a stroll on a gorgeous day and the views while walking over the Hudson River were spectacular. Even our two young children (3 and 4 year-old) loved it. It is very spacious and clean on the bridge. I would definitely do this again when travelling back to the area.
Unless you are afraid of heights-and with appropriately elevated guard rails there is no rational reason to fear here. What is not to like about walking over the Hudson River 200 feet up on a sunny day. Stunning views.Great for kids/dogs/bikers. No charge for crossing or parking although parking can be tight on weekends
Enjoyed riding the glass elevator down to the waterfront/park. No worries, it is not a fast ride, it goes up & down at a safe pace.
The Walkway Over the Hudson, a linear park linking Dutchess and Ulster counties provides stunning views of the Catskills and Hudson Highlands. It connects two rail trails on either side of the river, the Dutchess Rail Trail and the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Highland. The Ulster County side has a shorter approach to the river than the Dutchess side.... 更多
