What a surprise to find a museum of this quality in such a small town! The Hydes collected at least one of all the greatest old masters and continued through the 19th and into the 20th centuries with equally great paintings. The Rembrandt is not to be missed. Their special exhibits are of exceptional quality.
Went a few month back and what an amazing place for around here. Hard to believe when you see the building that it is so big inside and the huge names in art that are in there. A must see.
They have just expanded and under their new director they are really taking off. Even if you think you are not a fan of museums check this place out. Local connections are made to great art. This is the perfect thing to do if you are in Glens Falls or anywhere within a 100 mile radius of this incredible collection.
The three daughters of a local paper manufacturer had three adjoining beautiful homes built for them by their father - and next door to the mill so they would not forget where it came from. The Hyde's collection of classic paintings is worth the visit. It is a gem.

Very nice art collection in historic home. Cannot miss this when visiting Glens Falls, NY. The collection includes Picasso, Rembrandt, Winslow Homer and there is always a temporary exhibit.
This museum is a hidden gem in the most unexpected of locations. See art from the likes of Renoir, Picasso, and many more in a beautifully preserved home. The Norman Rockwell and Douglass Crockwell exhibits were simple and informative. The architecture of the home is stunning--lots of windows and beautiful light. It's $15 per person with free parking.
Definitely worth a visit. The Hyde home holds a remarkable collection of art... paintings, woodwork, architecture. One suggestion: docent tours are available Fri-Sun at 1 & 2 PM. We showed up on a weekday and missed the tour (which I think would have been a great help in understanding the collection). Good news: you can use your cell phone to... 更多
We were in the area for Valentine's weekend and decided to visit on an early Saturday afternoon. There were two exhibits that we were interested to see: The Norman Rockwell exhibit and a photographic exhibit from the George Eastman House collection. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed our tour, loved the film about Norman Rockwell, and appreciated the Hyde collection.... 更多
