I am a frequent visitor to the Glens Falls, NY area, and The Hyde Museum and Home are among my favorite locations to visit. Almost a home away from home is what I like about The Hyde Collection. Wandering through the main part of the museum is like visiting old friends. My favorites range from Childe Hassam, Alfred Bierstadt, to... 更多
The museum and home is a gem of a visit, both reasonably priced and amazing content. The home and linked gallery bring you top artists, wonderful architecture, and my favourite, - a wonderful classic library. Staff are exceptionally helpful, but not intrusive.
The Hyde Museum is a high class art museum featuring regional and world renowned art. In addition to the traditional museum galleries, the Hyde also offers family activities and self guided tours of the historic Hyde House and gardens. A must see for any historic or art enthusiast passing through the area.
We traveled the Hudson Valley in search of paintings by masters of the Hudson River School and selected the Hyde Collection as one of our destinations. There is a wonderful Albert Bierstadt here as well as works by Winslow Homer and fine examples of major European artists over a number of centuries. Definitely off the beaten path, my daughter and... 更多
The Hyde is a real delight. The works of art range from Rembrandt, to Eakins, from Bierstadt to de la Robbia. We had a great time. We decided to break up our trip back from Quebec with a stay in glens falls so we could see the Hyde collection. We're v pleased we did so. Pretty amazing to see a... 更多
Part art museum and part house museum, the Hyde Collection is an interesting place to visit in Glens Falls. While on the expensive side, you get a nice overview of a wide variety of art and furniture. When I went they had a special exhibition of Durer and Rembrandt engravings and woodcuts, and they allowed photography! Even in the special... 更多
what an incredible art gallery in Glens Falls! I was truly surprised by this museum. Some of the most notable art Giants right here in this beautiful museum. I will definitely be back.
This is a great museum that is also a well furnished period house tour. The painting, sculpture and sketch collection is really nice as well as the period furnishings. There is also a good 20 minute film explaining the history of the Hyde family and the museum. This is well worth the stop if in the area.
Who would expect to find original works by Botticelli, Rubens, El Greco, Degas, Renior and Picasso, oh, and Rembrandt in a small town in the Adirondacks, half way between Manhattan and Montreal? And those are just the European masters. This place also has a great collection of American artists as well. All on display in what was the Hyde's private... 更多
