Rembrandt paintings, sculpture, etchings. A thimble from the second century. A sculpture from the fourth century, BC. Paintings and artwork from 11 - 1200 to the 1900's. Allow up to two hours. Tour the home of the Hydes and see their artwork collection. It is surprising that such a phenomenal collection resides in Glens Falls.
We had a great time looking back over nice piece of history with the Rockwell exhibit. The photographic exhibition was also quite moving. Spend a couple of hours on a rainy day and you will be glad you did.
The Hyde Art Museum is made up of an new modern structure where you enter and they have artwork displayed that is on loan from other collections. When we visited there was a nice collection of Rembrandt, Durer, and other artist etchings and woodcut prints which was well done and interesting. Show goes through Oct. 2, 2016. Except for the... 更多
The Hyde Collection is a jewel-box gem of an art museum. As the Michelin Guide would write, "Worth a Detour." A visit is essential if you're in or near Glens Falls. We're not talking about minor works of Great Masters; this collection is the real McCoy, with masterpieces and near-masterpieces from the likes of Strozzi and Tintoretto; Rembrandt and Reubens;... 更多
This museum must be visited to be believed. Everything from El Greco to an exhibition on the early works of Georgia O'Keefe. If you thought you knew her work as desert scenes and flowers without nuance but with brilliant color then you have never seen the early work done in the Lake George region. Add to this the gorgeous architecture... 更多
This is located just minutes from downtown, and easily accessible. The museum was formerly the residence of the Hyde family, who completed construction of this Florentine Renaissance style home in the early 20th Century. Since it was first opened to the public, it’s expanded into an adjoining similar-style home. When my fiancée and I arrived, the current exhibition was on... 更多
This is a small museum but the selection of art is excellent. The homelike atmosphere with art huge throughout the building was enchanting. The docents or security staff were helpful and information as well. Some of the paintings are small but you can appreciate them as additions to living home. Although I love art museums, many of them are so... 更多
If you are in the area, this is a must see. Truly a place of treasures and an ever changing amount of "show" pieces. Anything from the Masters to the local talent. Love this place.
What a surprise to find a museum of this quality in such a small town! The Hydes collected at least one of all the greatest old masters and continued through the 19th and into the 20th centuries with equally great paintings. The Rembrandt is not to be missed. Their special exhibits are of exceptional quality.
Went a few month back and what an amazing place for around here. Hard to believe when you see the building that it is so big inside and the huge names in art that are in there. A must see.
