A very scenic and interesting place. We only walked the grounds and visited the gift shop area.Very nice lake views also. We enjoyed talking with the lady at the gift shop. Her and her husband volunteered there many, many years.
WOW! What an amazing experience this was. We was given a tour by a young girl. She was amazing. I can't even get my kids to read a history book and this young lady was giving a very informative tour. Me and my wife learned a lot from her and we were very impressed with her knowledge. The view from... 更多
My wife love lighthouses, so I wanted to take her to see this one. We were not disappointed. There is a great history behind the lighthouse, but we didn't realize that it was still a working lighthouse. The one thing I will say, make sure you have enough time to see everything. We didn't see everything and will be going... 更多
Learned things during the tour here that I never knew about this area and I grew up here. Especially interesting are the stories the guides tell about the lighthouse keeper's ghost who continues to haunt the site!
We pulled in here to have our picnic lunch. The grounds are beautifully kept. There are several picnic tables: sunny and shaded, take your pick! We opted not to take the lighthouse tour but did walk the grounds. There was enough interesting information to keep our kids (ages 6-11) involved. The bathroom facilities are free and very clean. A great... 更多
A happenstance took us here off a road trip from Niagara Falls. Our guide was a retired volunteer who gave us a fascinating tour that was fun and educational. An absolute regional gem. We are so glad we found it and thankful for our brilliant tour guide.
I am a self-described "lighthouse nut" and included the Dunkirk lighthouse on my annual tour of US lighthouses this year with my two 12 year old grandsons. Not only were the grounds and lightkeeper's home rich with history, the tour that we received was truly exceptional. It was full of relevant historical information that described life from years past, anecdotal... 更多
We visited the lighthouse and took a guided tour of the lighthouse. There were lots of displays for all aspects of what life was like for the lighthouse operators and their owners and effort to walk up in the lighthouse tower was rewarded with a great view of the harbor.
The Dunkirk lighthouse is more than it appears from the driveway that leads to the front door of the keepers house. Yes, it's an interesting lighthouse with all of the Lake Erie maritime fanfare... The keepers home is preserved in the period it was used and full of Lakers history on the first floor... On the higher floor the local... 更多
