Beautiful spot along the Hudson that is a must do for any folks that enjoy day hikes and getting out of the City. If you go to the NY State Parks website for this park, you will find in the "Maps" link with the trail maps for North and South parts of the park. Print the map and take it... 更多
Beautiful, challenging, dog-friendly and peaceful. Highly recommend this area for a day-trip or weekend trip from Manhattan. Trails are well-marked and not overly traversed (at least on the late fall/winter occasions when we've been). Go!
I have hiked this State Park many times. Each trail is better than the next. You can take Metro North straight from the city to the different trail starting points as well, which makes it very ideal and convenient. When taking Metro North to Beacon, you can hike the Breakneck/Casino/Old Train ruins trail. This is a more strenuous hike that... 更多
While the area is beautiful it is overly crowded and the trails are in poor shape. The excessive amount of people who visit here have no problem with tossing their trash wherever they want. If you are looking for a quiet hike in the woods this is not the place. Breakneck trail is extremely strenuous-do not take this trail unless... 更多
Had the day off work and someone recommended this park. What a find! We did the trails that led to the Cornish mansion ruins. Not a terribly hard hike but you should at least be in kind-of decent shape. Lots of photo opportunities. Even found a geocache in the ruins. What a great day. Definitely have to come back when... 更多
Lots of good reviews here so I won't pile on - needless to say, the rock scramble up Breakneck Ridge is amazing if you're in good shape. Here are two add'l things to know: 1) If you reach the fourth and highest summit, there's a large flat grassy area at the top. It can be difficult to find your way... 更多
It's a challenging hike but doable if you are properly prepared. Here's a few tips: 1) Make sure you have shoes with proper grip in order to help climb the rocks. That cannot be emphasized enough. There are parts where you'll have a sliver of a grove to give yourself a boost up, and if you're really struggling, look out... 更多
Easy access from NYC by train (approximately 50-60 min). There are two train stops that serve Breakneck Ridge (Check HUDSON LINE on Metro-North). Fun strenuous hiking with gorgeous views. Many people visiting it on the weekend. Bring your own picnic to the trail or visit one of several good restaurants in Cold Spring town before boarding train back to the... 更多
Hudson Highlands is really nice because it has a huge variety of trails to suit whatever you are looking for. There are big strenuous climbs and the ability to hike long loops without doubling back. But at the same time, there are plenty of easy meandering hikes that pass a lot of interesting things to see (cliffs, vernal pools, easy... 更多
We were looking for a nice stroll in this beautiful part of NY State and it was magnificent! Be careful, there are some tough trails on here for experienced hikers. The stroll down to the river with the breathtaking view was a great experience.
