This was a great day trip from NYC. Took about 2.5 hours, which included a ferry ride from Newburgh and a very good narrated tour. Castle is very photogenic and the tour was very interesting. There's plenty of parking near the dock and there is Metro North station nearby.
NY state park area which is in the process of restoration with a lush, mysterious, long, intriguing, romantic history in need of help, volunteers, and work. A must go place not well suited for individuals with physical handicaps. .

The guide was absolutely great and very competent, the tour is interesting and the island is extremely intriguing. Go and support the castle, it is so worth it!

This tour was very cool. It was so nIce to be able to get a closer look at the old castle that you see in the middle of the hudson! Definitely wear walking shoes and bring a camera
Wonderful guided tour, very knowledge about the history of NYC and Hudson valley.
