Park near The Bavarian parking lot at the top of the Ski Valley, and you can do the hike easily in 2.5 hours, less if you're fast and don't spend much time at the lake itself. It is a gentle gain in altitude, but you have to take into account that you're starting at 10,000' or higher. Go a little... 更多
Four of us found this to be the highlight of our day in Taos! The trail starts off very rocky but turns into easier dirt paths further up. If you wear good shoes you'll be fine. It's a gradual incline and weaves back and forth so we did not find it difficult. The Lake is beautiful, even though it was... 更多
My husband and I were in Taos for the weekend to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We are around 60 and very actively physically. We both work out at the gym several times a week and are very fit. We were looking for some hikes that were moderately challenging but didn’t require an entire day or camping out. We talked with... 更多
If you have the time, this is worth the walk. It is absolutely gorgeous. If you are not in okay condition it may not be the hike for you. Most people don't realize how high the altitude is in Taos and the ski valley. Bring lots of water and a jacket.

My husband and I both celebrated our birthdays in August, and so we did a little weekend getaway in Taos. We concluded with the Williams Lake hike. A tad challenging at first but we got up to the lake in an hour (spent a leisurely 20 minutes before we heard a crack or two of thunder prompting us to get... 更多
I'm from Phoenix Arizona and have hiked almost every mountain here. I've backpacked and hiked the Arizona higher altitudes but was NOT prepared for Williams Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous and worth the push up though. I took A LOT of breaks on the way up. Almost turned around several times.....but kept resting on logs and explaining "I'm from the... 更多
Best way to do the hike is drive up to the top of the ski valley road and park on the outskirts of The Bavarian restaurant parking lot. Takes about 2 1/2 hours at and older person's pace. Lots of visitors try it early on because it is recommended, but quickly discover that starting that high can be tough, even... 更多
