Students of New Mexico history realize what a huge role Kit Carson played in the second half of the 19th century. This restored adobe was his home for many years. The self-guided tour of the four room building features a 20-minute video and some artifacts. It does a good job of telling the story of his life. If you are... 更多
It is impressive that the actual one-story, Spanish style adobe house of Kit and his third wife, Josefa, is the skeleton of the museum, offering visitors a glance into the real lives of ninetieth century Taos residents. The entrance used to be a stable and faces the courtyard, the central point of the home, leading into what is now the... 更多
If you like history, the old west, and a quite layed back museum. This is it. I was so surprized as to the wat this place was presented to me. It has it's own flare and genuine look of a man and his life.
The tour begins with a short informative video on Kit Carson. I was familiar with his name, but didn't really know much about him, so this provided a good summary of his life. Visiting his home was very interesting; there are four rooms in all. The first room has exhibits and is where you watch the video. The second room... 更多
We found the Kit Carson Museum very interesting. The introductory film of Carson's life is informative and his great great grandson stars as Kit Carson. I learned a lot about Kit Carson's work and family life. The museum is Carson's 4-room home that displays Carson memorabilia.
My son had never heard of Kit Carson. I knew he was a scout for the military, but had no idea of the adventuresome life he led. The video presented interesting information about his life and family and the museum offered exhibits of photos, daily living items and a look at the way he and his family lived.
A very friendly museum and how thankful we were they allowed well behaved dogs (our dog is small). There's a 25 minute video from the History Channel on Kit Carson's life (starring his grandson) which was was well worth watching. The house has been restored and the memorabilia, documents and photos provide a lot of information about Kit and his... 更多
Kit Carson is a well recognized historical figure in the exploration and settlement of the western United States. A fur trapper, mountain man, scout, and soldier. Carson's exploits covered many states and territories throughout his colorful career, but Taos was his home. The museum offers a glimpse into the life of this important historical figure. The museum is small and... 更多
The museum is located in his Taos home and consists of 4 rooms. There are not too many actual artifacts but there are displays in each room. The best part is a film on his early life made by the History Channel specifically for the museum. At $7 for adults and $6 for seniors it is a bit pricey for... 更多
