Tinkertown defies description--you just have to see it! It is really difficult to try to explain it, except to recommend you visit. There is nothing else quite like it. Admission is very reasonable (see photo), and there are thousands of things to see--from a sailboat to miniatures to a great gift shop.
My family has lived in Albuquerque for eleven years. During that time, I literally can't count how many times we've been to Tinkertown.
