Our family and our dogs have enjoyed this trail for 50 years. We visit Red River every summer, for a few weeks, and take many walks per day, along the nature trail. Peaceful, beautiful and you will typically see a few deer while walking that usually eat out of your hands!
Good one-mile trail for almost all levels of walkers/hikers, never far from the river and sight of town. Also a good place for trail running. Connects to pathways on the ski runs that can add some distance to a hike/walk.
The trail ran directly behind the hotel and the sound of the river running was certainly peaceful and refreshing. It was nice to see the mother duck with her babies and the deer wondered up and down the trail. All manner of birds gather around the trail as well.
4 miles round trip through the wooded area behind town. 200 foot elevation change. It was wonderful to have a minimum of informative sig mage along the way,to learn about what trees, and shrubs were along the way. Mostly in the shade, even footing. Kids over 6 would enjoy the hike. Bring water as always. Maybe a snack for the halfway... 更多
Rated # 1 so we decided to try this 2 mile trail with our 7 year old granddaughter. Thought she'd enjoy the interpretive signs. There were only 3 -- all broken so we couldn't read them. Trail very poorly marked -- often had trouble knowing which way to go. Much of the trail is next to or thru private property.... 更多
There’s a paved trail along the east side of the river and a single track dirt trail along the west bank with a good deal of short punchy climbs. Either is a nice relaxing walk with a great view. It’s not Central Park, but what else is?
We hiked plenty in RR over the course of a week in June/July 2016. One day we decided to do the nature trail in town, which we'd never done. Very slippery, poorly labeled, and narrow compared to many of the great trails around town. We would not likely return.
