Upstairs walk through displays of Native work. Nice short visit. Easy access via elevator. Rail Station right there. Local cafe on the premises.
Stopped in on the way out of town, heading west on Route 66. Well worth the stop. How very convenient that the elevator is right around the corner from the entrance. And it is an Otis. A bit stinky, but nice. Rode it to the second floor to visit the museum area of the center. Very nice, modern looking building,... 更多
After living in Gallup for three years, I am still perplexed about the Gallup Cultural Center. It is in a beautiful building and seems to have a lot of space for events, exhibits, etc. but the place is rarely open. I mean you can show up there on a Saturday afternoon (usually when tourists might be walking around) and it... 更多
there is a great space on the second floor for art exhibits- usually from contests of school children. A permanent collection of Native American art. it can host special events- upscale- for fund raising, whether for dental clinics in South America or for the Humane society. Seats about 200 persons
Stop by here a great way to learn about the cultures around the area. Most of the shoppings are in the same area so it's walking distance in the downtown area.
I saw the statues out front and it said Cultural Center so I thought I'd check it out. There was a great free musuem upstairs with examples of Kachina dolls from the local area, and sand painting examples, as well as a traditional loom and lots of examples of pottery. I was fortunate to go while the Gallery of the... 更多
What a wonderful museum! Great artifacts from the ancients to the native population to code talkers. All free and all well-kept. Don't miss this one when traveling through Gallup.
It took us a while to find this place, as we passed it twice, but thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. Loved all the student artwork and was amazed at how good some of them were considering the ages of these junior artists. I liked how this restored railroad station had been turned into this charming little cultural center. Really enjoyed... 更多
This is a great place to get an overview of the story of Gallup and the Navajo Nation. The displays were beautiful and informative. A small cafe is in the building. We did not eat in the cafe but it looked inviting.
