McCarter Theatre is a first rate venue for seeing excellent plays. It is composed of two theatres Berlind (smaller) and the Original McCarter. In addition there are frequent lectures before the play starts. If you are in Princeton, make a serious effort to get tickets for whatever is playing there.
Have been here dozens of times for all sorts of productions, and possibly I take the place for granted . . . personally I prefer performances at George St and State Theatre in New Brunswick because I find them more accessible (easy to understand, hear/see and appreciate). Artistic Director programs with one-eye towards NYC-Broadway's approval so they do a lot... 更多
I've performed here between 1964 and 1969, and seen first run movies, off Broadway plays and musicals, and coral and orchestral performances. It's a fine venue to perform in, and more comfortable as audience in which to enjoy a first rate performance. Really good acoustics and sight lines.
Best local equity theatre I have been to and I have lived in numerous cities including Chicago, Dallas. With rare exception the performances are outstanding and some of the set designs put NYC Broadway shows to shame and you can't beat the value. Easy to get to and parking is free in one of the Princeton University parking garages.
This is a lovely theatre that has a bar, sandwiches and snacks. Also it has a gift shop and all the seating is very well placed. Look online for upcoming shows. They have everything from musicals, ballet, jazz plays and solos!! A great night out with restaurant and parking nearby.
We enjoyed a great piano concert! I am tempted to come back for their next event... Agatha Christie's Mousetrap! Try to get there for it!
We went to McCarter often the last 20 years! Many musicians and plays open at McCarter to polish before their NYC openings. And lots just bop down to Princeton from NYC (less than an hour by train) to put on their shows! We moved away a month ago, and we will miss The McCarter Theater!
