Oldest state park in the country with multiple access points, car and hiking trails. Take the Marion Trail for moderate climbing. Or this end of the Wapack if you like some vertical rocks. The summit views are breath-taking and in the fall and dearly winter, you'll see hundreds of raptors migrating. Climb the observation tower for a real thrill.
There is a $4 per person fee to park. This may be avoided by taking the Raymond Trail which is just west of Miller State Park. If hiking from the park you have a choice of two trails, each 1.4 miles to the top of Pack Monadnock. Once up top there are views in all directions, even the Boston skyline on... 更多
Miller State Park is Pack Monadnock mountain. You can choose any of several not very easy trails to the top, or you can drive a relatively narrow, winding, paved road to the top. Ignore the cell towers and concentrate on the view. You really can see Boston from the top, as well as Manchester and a terrific view of the... 更多
Miller SP is an old school state park and a working site a well. There are a number of cellular, radar, and microwave towers. They don't detract. There is also a beautiful WPA style stone shelter and some other buildings from that era. This is also a prime raptor - viewing spot. There are two principle trails to the summit:... 更多
Was looking for a route back from my trip to Vermont and chose the one having Miller State Park. The views and the trails are awesome. On a clear weather you can see as far as your eyes could see. It's at a pretty good height and is mostly windy but the trails are safe enough for young kids.
There are several trails to the top, where you will be rewarded with a view for miles. You can even see Boston on a clear day. For thous of you in a hurry, or too big for your bridges (get it) they have an auto road open during the day.
Love the challenge of the motor road. Even more of a challenge on the trails. Kills me to pay to use this for a hike. Paying two people to collect $$$. Nuts!
Fall in New England means admiring foliage and its myriad of colors. One of the best vantage points to appreciate this view is from atop Pack Monadnock with minimal effort, thanks to the auto road. Each year we make the drive up the mountain to check out the view and the tally of migratory birds by the Audubon Society. Climb... 更多
We had gone to Rhododendron State to see the rhododendrons but unfortunately there weren't any so decided to go to Miller State Park instead. The woman at the gate was a hoot! Worth the price of admission alone. ($4 per person). Even though it was an overcast & foggy day we had a nice drive up, picnic lunch at the... 更多
Great hike on a beautiful May morning. We climbed up the Marion Davis trail (1.4 miles/830 feet rise) and descended the tougher Wapack Trail (1.4 miles). Next time I shall reverse that order of trails. Wapack is a stiffer descent but likely a more fun climb! 50 minutes each way.!a great work out. Bring water! Lots of younger folks with... 更多
