Beautiful and serene in the winter. We were the only people at the lake and it was so peaceful (aside from the road nearby) and the view was gorgeous. I could have sat there all day if it wasn't freezing! If you don't want to hike anywhere but still want to see some nice scenery, this was a good spot.
We are from Oregon and this lake, bordered by a noisy highway, didn't live up to it's description. It is spring fed, so that may be what is considered to make it special. If you miss seeing Echo Lake, it will be OK
Nothing like an "offseason" swim to brighten the day. I visited in mid-September. I was surprised they were still open! $4 to get into the beach, but that meant use of bathrooms/changing area which was an unexpected bonus.
