We climbed Mt. Chocorua via the Champney trail which was rated as moderate difficulty and I agree, it is pretty steep in places but I only needed to stop a few times to catch my breath. We also did the little trail that takes you to the waterfall but it was pretty dry. We did this hike in October and... 更多
Chocorua is according to the APC the most photographed mountain in the world and it's no wonder why. It's a gorgeous mountain sheltered in the southeastern White Mountains that isn't as challenging as the taller Presidential mountains, and has a huge summit with just amazing views. Keep in mind, Chocorua is still a tough climb in parts with extended sections... 更多
I am fortunate to live in the shadow of this beautiful place. I would love to hike to the summit but physical limitations prohibit. My 11 year old grandson, his dad and grandfather hiked the Piper Trail today and my daughter has hiked to the summit several times. My husband hiked it when he was 60. I would highly recommend... 更多
My husband and I took our 15 y/o son and 4 of his friends on this hike. We did the Champney Falls trail (off rt. 112) and then the Pike trail for the final 0.4 miles. The Champney trail was well maintained and quite attractive. We didn't find it too difficult. You had to walk over large rocks on the... 更多
My husband and I started our hike by taking the Champney Falls trail from the Kangamaugus highway. This was a nice easy 1.5 mile hike to some beautiful falls. Then, on our way back, we saw a trail for Mount Chocorua which was 2.1 miles away. We decided to go for it and we weren't disappointed! The hike was a... 更多
Mt Chocorua can be a relatively easy hike or quite challenging depending on which route you take. Satisfying hike with rewarding views. Well traveled and maintained. The 20-somethings in our neighborhood hike it in the morning and waterski in the afternoon.
Of the three main mountains in the Tamworth area (Whiteface, Passaconaway, Chocorua), Chocorua is the smallest. It is a relatively easy hike, with some trails along beautiful forest streams. The top third of the mountain is tree-less, so there are great views from the top. And when you get done, you can swim in Lake Chocorua and look back up... 更多
Went up via the Liberty trail and found it to be a very enjoyable 8 mile round trip hike. The trail is well maintained and only has a few somewhat exposed ledge parts near the top. I don't like exposure and this was manageable. Went up on Christmas day 2015 and it was 58 degrees on top! Amazing views.
I really enjoyed this hike up via the Brook and down via Liberty. Took about 4.5 hours in total with breaks, and some really challenging times on the ascent, but if you are fit and tenacious you can handle it. A lot of boulder and rock scrambling and cliff ledge maneuvering on the Brook. You just need to stop occasionally,... 更多
Just finished my third hike up Mt. Chocorua over a span of about 20yrs. I have always gone up Piper and did so again with a friend of mine who had never been. The weather was a bit warm, but overall very nice. Views spectacular as always. This time I opted to come down differently by taking Middle Sister trail... 更多
