Loved this visit! The village is well presented and there are willing expert guides on hand to help with extra details. The collection of furniture and other items shaker is impressive. Allow plenty of time, it's a shame to have to rush through.
I always bring out-of-state visitors here and have gone at several different times of year. The Shakers were inventive and industrious with a way of life that is historically interesting. The entire site is peaceful and beautiful, especially in the fall. Haven't tried the snack bar since it opened where it is now, but the restaurant is staffed by students... 更多
The village is fascinating. Each building had a purpose and the docents are very knowledgeable and eager to; explain both the spiritual beliefs of the residents and the practical and commercial uses of the structures.of the buildings. I had a nice discussion with one about the recent off-Broadway show about the Shakers, Angel Reapers" The museum and store were the... 更多
More curious than anything, I wanted to check out the Shaker Village and was glad I did! I learned about the Shaker religion, the story and philosophy. You must take the free guided tour! Our tour guide was awesome. This is great for adults, families, regular peeps! Not very wheelchair accessable. Worth the price of admission!
This is a beautiful living active museum which is well worth a visit and represents great value for money. The tour lasts 75 minutes and is very informative. There is an optional film (55 mins) as additional information. You can wander the site and see some buildings self guided. There is a cafe with lunch options which were limited in... 更多
An absolutely amazing place, so much of the original architecture and artefacts you feel the shakers have just left. The guided tour is fascinating and informative. Afterwards though it is great to just stroll through the buildings at your own pace and soak up the atmosphere of a time now passed
We visited on a whim as it was on the way to our final destination. We went on a guided tour with Daryl who grew up in the village. He was amazing, such a vast wealth of knowledge and very happy to chat - so much so we ran over time. It is a must to visit, all preserved incredibly... 更多
Easy to access from Concord NH, this village consists of a large number of houses, many of which are open to view, a learning centre/reception/gift shop and an eating place. Entrance is $17/adult and there are guided tours at 11 am, 1 pm and 3pm. The carriage house contains an exhibition of Shaker artifacts and Shaker-inspired art and there is... 更多
Our tour of Canterbury Shaker Village was self guided and we loved being able to move around as we chose. The buildings and grounds are well taken care of and the simplicity of everything was inspiring. Construction of everything was carried out to last many life times, not just 20 yrs and off to the garage sale or to be... 更多
Very interesting guided tour & looking around thereafter. It was amazing to see how they lived & developed "technology" & quite instructive for today's youth in terms of their history & the impact they have had on society in general. Highly recommended. Glad we did not have to eat as they did but still interesting to see their kind of... 更多
