If you are in Genoa, don't miss this museum located in historic courthouse. Earnest and enthusiastic docent. Beautiful Washoe baskets. Original courthouse and jail and reconstructed school room would make it interesting for kids. Great place to spend an hour.
Great little museum with loads of interesting photos, artifacts, and stories. Genoa is the oldest town in Nevada, movies were filmed in the area. Great place to spend a weekend.
This was an interesting place but I would not make a special trip here. The Genoa Bar is way more interesting and you can get a cold beverage as well. Stay at the bar.
Genoa is Nevada's oldest settlement and played a key role in the California Gold Rush as a supply depot and Pony Express stop. The Courthouse Museum, run by local volunteers, is a great source for that early history.
Visited late morning and was in a small group who were enthralled by the history of the area and the role of the Morman pioneers in Genoa. We are staying in the area at David Whalley Resort and were advised that this is an excellent presentation. We can only endorse. Bout of the Wah but real history.

It's staffed with volunteer docents who are quite willing to answer questions and point out items of interest. I especially enjoyed the Washoe baskets and the display on Mr Ferris (of the Ferris Wheel).... 更多
Worth a visit. Did a really good job of preserving the original courtroom upstairs. Have a picnic across the street in the park that has a replica of the original fort.
Genoa was a significant stopping off and "refueling" place for early pioneers on the California Trail. The museum does a good job showing the historical significance. It's small so easy to enjoy and not too much for young children to enjoy as well.
This is a small museum created and staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. The admission price of $3 is a bargain. There is a very deep exploration of the area's role during the gold rush and western emigration, as well as an eye into the culture of daily life. The roots of families still present in town are illustrated and explored. The... 更多
