Stopped in on a road trip and enjoyed the shop and then a tour of the great historic Pioneer Hotel. The man working the counter shared the great and bawdy history of the building and then we checked out the great adjacent museum. Don't miss the portrait gallery downstairs.
Small museum celebrating the area's cowboy heritage, entirely staffed by volunteers. The one who was on duty when were there was a delight - extremely knowledgeable about the local area, history, customs etc. Bonus - this place has a fabulous gift shop with lots of local artists represented.
Stopped in out of curiosity and what a fun little place. Great gift shop and wonderful artwork. Wish the fantastic antique bar had been up and running but it was great to see.
We were in Elko for a short stop on our way to the coast. The exhibitions with photography from the prairie and especially the short movie "why the cowboy sings"(16 min) summed and put a perspective on what we had seen and experienced on our journey, The soundtrack is now on a danish stereo. A very helpful staff. Best regards.
This is a great place for a get together. We had at least 200 hundred people. They have a bar and allow you to bring your own food for events. Small little cowboy poetry display and cowboy art.
The Western Folklife Center is always putting on something fun. Every year there is the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. I went for the first time in 2000 and never had so much fun! My Dad LOVES cowboy poetry, so this was a must see before we headed out of town. He loved the bar area, and the photos, posters related to the annual poetry meeting. The gift shop is great - lots of fun things to look at and purchase. The only disappointment was that they were in the midst of remodeling the... 更多
The WFLC always has an interesting display relating to the western cowboy, along with a nice gift shop with books, jewelry, music and poetry CD's, relating to the western way of life.
Wonderful little gift shop and a free museum to walk through. This is the location of the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and there are lots of related items to purchase. There's also beautiful jewelry crafted by local artisans for purchase. Very friendly staff.
