We have been to many many lakes around the US and granted many of them appear out of nowhere while driving up mountains into valleys, but this gigantic lake appears out of nowhere past cornfields and cow pastures. Camping looked neat, people were parked along designated roads and pitching tents and parking trailers right on the sand. The sand by... 更多
Beautiful park next to a lake. Some sites are right on the water. Lots of trees. Electric hookups. It was $18 a night. Showers needed some work. It's about 15 miles north of I-80.
We stayed at Little Thunder campground which was nice for us bc we didn't have to drive all the way around the 20+ mile lake to get there. The State Park had excellent modern visitor's center with super fast WiFi. You could buy WiFi at the campground for 3.99 a night, we didn't try it so I don't kmow how... 更多
Awesome place to visit. Camping, water sports, fishing, bonfires and wonderful white sand beaches. Living in Ogallala only 7 miles away I would recommend staying away on the 3 big holiday weekends unless you love big crowds and close quarters. Get sand in your crack at Big Mac is a favorite saying around here because the sand is so fine... 更多
We actually drove all the way out to this lake to try to see the top of an underwater town in the lake. We were told that when they dammed the river, it flooded a town which remains mostly in tact at the bottom of the lake. When the water level is low enough you can see the top of... 更多
We drove across the dam, wonderful view. Pulled into the visitor's center right at closing time. The OPEN sign was on when we pulled in to the parking lot. Some of the game and parks employees were leaving the building. We got out of the car and was headed towards the building. The sign in the window changes to CLOSED.... 更多
Nice large lake (man-made) with a lot of camping areas, plenty of beaches to enjoy when the weather permits. Wind surfers seem to enjoy it for sure. Sadly not there when the Eagles are there in abundance.
