Was here on the4th of July, and they have a Civil War Re-enactment, that was very well done. Nice beautiful grounds, and they even have bats in the sod house! One of the best campgrounds that we have seen in Nebraska next door.
In addition to the numerous historical items, this park has an outstanding Sandhill Crane information center. Its one of the must go to places if you visit Kearney during the Crane migration. In addition, the park sits in among the cornfields where literally thousands of cranes are feeding.
This was nice little stop but honestly didn't offer too much. The video was interesting and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The museum was so-so as most of what was on display could have been read in a book without a display.
Visited here for the last two years while on a Sandhill Crane viewing trip. It does a good job of relaying the history of the area. They have some nice artifacts and information but they have some display cases that need some lighting.
History buffs will enjoy this center. My wife and I stopped here briefly while on a day-long trek to view migrating sandhill cranes. The center had a very nice 18-minute video of wildlife and migrating birds in this area. Outside the center are several old west historical items to view.
This park looks completely worn out and tired. The wood is deteriorated and the grounds unkempt. There were massive downed trees on sidewalks. The idea to restore the area is right but the execution is failing. Please fund the park and restore it. History deserves that attention.
This marks a fort from Oregon Trail Days. There is a replica stockade and a couple of other buildings. Mostly there are picture displays showing where things were at. The pictures and writing were so faded that they were almost impossible to read. The highlight is the visitors center which has a nice video and good displays. The man working... 更多
