I and my granddaughter Faith went -we went thru the tour and the ole"gal that did the tour was as sweet as they come- - very interesting and the apple trees were delicious- great place to spend the day
The St. Mary's Mission is a mainstay in the Bitterroot Valley, and a must see! The grounds are meticulously kept, and an excellent Visitors Center provides information. The nearby Cemetery has "Patrons" dating back to the 1800's, and the Mission is a great place to reflect, and thank God, for what we have!
Beautifully refurbished and very knowledgeable docents who introduce you to Montana's history and the significance Stevensville played. Great for the whole family.
The oldest city in Montana. This mission is a testament to what one man could accomplish in so many areas, Architecture, medicine, human endeavor in general. Wonderful old buildings with a vast historical importance. Must see. Take the tour. and make a donation.
This is a very well preserved part of Montana's history and will go again! You must take a tour to visit the many buildings on site that are in pristine condition considering they are 175 years old. The original church, the add-on, out buildings, and original furniture hand-made by the "black robes" (priests) that the Native Americans begged to come to this location. Docent-guided tours available. Plus a small but interesting museum.
We had a tour of the small mission church, which was beautiful on the inside. There are some well-preserved buildings close by (within walking distance) and many artifacts in the museum. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The area was very relaxing and peaceful.
The Historic St. Mary's Mission & Museum is a non-profit organization. St. Mary's Mission is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
