Hauser Lake is not far from Helena, MT and provides beautiful scenery, RV campground (dry camping), swimming area, and walking trails. Devil's Elbow provides the biggest spots, the facilities are clean. The fishing isn't spectacular, but may be better at other times of year. First come, first serve, so get there early for a lakeview spot.
The first time in my life, I was able to watch people do some ice fishing! We stayed next to aha user Lake and really enjoyed watching the people who came daily to fish, pulling their sleds, setting up their shelters. Interesting! Riverside campground is a BLM site at the base of Canyon Ferry Dam and is the first feature on Lake Hauser. You get there by going over the Canyon Ferry Dam and turning left at the small Canyon ferry Village. It has a great ADA compliant dock area and both reservable and walk-up only sites. Stayed at Devil's Elbow campground March 2015 and enjoyed the serenity of the campground and the Missouri River.
