The National Park Service does an excellent job of presenting fascinating facts about U. S. Grant. They have a very interactive museum to entertain young and old while waiting for the 20 minute to start. Then the Park Ranger was eloquent and provided many bits of information to make Grant come to life. Oh yow ... this is all free!
Learned much more about Grant than I know previously. Solid 20 minute movie and then take the Ranger tour to check out the house. That takes 25 minutes or so. Then a museum to check out also. Lots to learn and read and was more interested in his Presidency after stopping here
Didn't expect much beyond a National Park Passport stamp but was blown away. Grants life story was fascinating. I'm buying his book now. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
This is an excellent venue to spend a couple of hours to learn more about this famous general and president. There were few people there so it appears it might be little known
I'd been to Grant's Farm many times over the years, but never knew this home existed. Turns out it was privately owned for many years and only fairly recently opened to the public. So glad I finally decided to visit. The guided tour of the house was very interesting. Gives you a lot of background on Grant's early beginnings (it... 更多
Despite having lived in St Louis almost 10 years and frequently visiting Grants Farm I had never been to the Ulysses S. Grant National Historical Site until recently. The grounds are very well maintained and the visitors center and horse stable have been somewhat recently renovated. The park rangers were very helpful and introduced my kids to the junior ranger... 更多
The day we went on our tour the park ranger we had was wonderful, he really took the time to answer all of the questions that the people attending the tour had. We returned a second day to make a few purchases from the gift shop and met with a different park ranger who was equally helpful and friendly!
Very nice national historic site. Great history that just touches on what Grant is known for - the Civil War. Instead the focus is on a man, his family and all that he accomplished outside of the war. I had no idea of his influence on the civil rights of virtually all minority groups in America. So glad I went
A visit can stat with a 22 minute film about Ulyssees's life before West Point, West Point, California military service, out of service, during & conclusion of war ending with his two terms as president. Our ranger guide-Bob-was very detailed about Ulyssees' life. We toured the Grant house, surrounding buildings ending in the stables. On the grounds are several information... 更多
Enjoyed this visit. Watch a 20 min film about his life, then there is a ranger led tour of the first floor of the house and outer buildings. The house actually belonged to Grant's wife's family, the Dents. I was surprised to learn Dent was a slave owner. Especially since Grant was against slavery. The tour is very good and... 更多
