The mission of the World Chess Hall of Fame is to educate visitors, fans, players, and scholars by collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting the game of chess and its continuing cultural and artistic significance. The World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF) celebrates one of the world's oldest and best-loved games through vibrant, engaging exhibitions and creative programming. A not-for-profit, collecting institution situated in the heart of Saint Louis, the WCHOF houses both the U.S. and World Chess Halls of Fame, which honor the accomplishments of the game's finest players. The organization presents exhibitions that explore the history of the game, as well as its remarkable impact on arts and culture. These unique shows and programs are designed to appeal to both the chess novice and expert, defying expectations and enhancing knowledge of the game. Along with those of its sister organization, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis, the WCHOF's activities have distinguished Saint Louis as a national and international chess destination.

Found this place while searching for things to do in St. Louis. Thought it might be fun for my 11-year old daughter who was familiar with chess. The advertisement about interactive exhibits was really enticing so I had high hopes that this would be worth seeing. We were somewhat confused about parking. We parked at a spot across the street... 更多

The World Chess Hall of Fame is an uninteresting place that comes up short on providing compelling and relevant information about its members and chess itself, aside from it being a pain to reach by car. Getting to the World Chess Hall of Fame by car on a Saturday in summer was not easy because of a combination of lack... 更多

The museum is three floors . First floor is mostly shut down for upcoming exhibits, which change ever six months & gift shop. Second floor is a child's theme with large chess pieces in a partly built plastic block castle. Third floor is about the women's role. Here are large glass cases with photos, women players & chess related articles.... 更多

The Hall of Fame is across the street from the Chess Club. It is small but has 3 stories of exhibits. Two floors are changing exhibits every few months. Since I live nearby, and am a small museum buff, I visit a couple times a year, though each visit is under 30 minutes. The history of the game, the people,... 更多

You can play games across the street and they have a fourteen foot tall king, the tallest in the world.

We stopped by on our way through St. Louis. First thing to you see is a huge chess piece standing out front. Largest in the world and you can play on a very big chess board out front. The entrance fee is no charge so it is great on the wallet. The displays change a couple times a year so... 更多

We noticed this on a weather camera for the city and investigated more and had to go there to see the worlds largest chess piece. We also played some chess in front of it with a large sidewalk chess set. I lost, my son won (sort of made his day).

Current exhibits include hand made chess sets by various women artists including Sophie Matisse and Yoko Ono. Spectacular pieces which speak volumes. A must see for any art, history or chess lover.
