This museum is seamlessly connected to the indoor space used to pay for tickets and cue up to ascend into the Gateway Arch. The museum gives a 1-2 hour visit a nice overview of the circumstances and era of the 1804 Louisiana Purchase, expanding the USA west of the Mississippi. It's well done. But not sure how eager I'd have... 更多
If you have a choice schedule your visit sometime after 2017. The Arch, the grounds, and the museum are being renovated and reconstructed. The Museum is relocated into temporary quarters in the Old Courthouse and not expected to reopen at the Arch until late 2017. The tram to the top of the Arch is being closed after Thanksgiving 2016 to... 更多
Went to see the St. Louis Arch and was surprised by the Museum. Going to the Arch, make sure to have a little time to walk through and enjoy it. It was an easy walk around and many things to see. Kids would love it.
The Museum of Westward Expansion is the museum in the Old Courthouse which is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. It includes the arch, the courthouse, a small cathedral, and, with the new construction, a beautiful park from west of the courthouse to the arch and the river. Some of this is still under construction (5/16) but there are... 更多
Recently updated, this is a great stop for American history buffs. Even if you're not fond of American history, there's a lot to see that should spark at least some interest. Plus, it's free, and right under the Arch. There's no reason to skip this museum if you're there for the Arch anyway. It won't take much time, and you... 更多
The history of westward expansion was displayed nicely in a historic setting. The displays are very brief. Great paintings, illustrations and artifacts to admire. The old courthouse setting is unique as well. The videos, maps, Lewis & Clark were fun to look at. The employees were very knowledgeable as well. Best part - it was free
We spent a couple of hours because there was so much to see! We had a blast. If you are interested at all in the topic of westward expansion, this is a must.
I would go just for the museum, but if you purchase tickets for the viewing platform of the Gateway Arch, this is a great way to fill up the time. It is free and open to the public, even if you don't want to pay to visit the top of the arch. Loved seeing different modes of transportation and the... 更多
A nice exhibit of how the US developed to the west. One of the more balanced presentations with the Native American perspective. Best of all - it's free!
A very interactive history lesson covering just about everything you wanted to know regarding the Lewis & Clark expedition. Don't miss this if you have the time. I learn something new everytime I go.
