Fortunately, this structure was saved from the highway cutting through years ago. The museum now gives a very good look into the founder and early days of St. Joseph and the surrounding area. It has a good collection of artifacts and does not take too long to fully explore. Worth seeing.
While visiting St. Joseph we visited the Robidoux Row Museum and had the pleasure of the Executive Director giving us a guided tour. A true diamond in the rough. Very limited hours of operation, but well worth the effort, when considering there is only one employee, who is the Director, curator, historian, housekeeper, and tour guide, all rolled into one. We were impressed by her knowledge and her passion for the museum, the city of St. Joseph, and its history.
This is a unique historic structure built by the founder of Saint Joseph. He was a French Trapper and rented "rooms" to fellow trappers and MO river travelers. Closed til spring.
It was a bit tricky getting there, but GPS to the rescue. The building is in very good condition outside and the "backyard" area was lovely and charming.
