St.Anthony in June is usually a perfect time to see icebergs. In fact, when we were there, icebergs floated into the cove and we could watch them while we ate our dinner at Lightkeeper's restaurant. However to really feel "at one" with these magnificent natural creations, I would recommend that you take a tour with Northland Boat Tours. The onboard... 更多
We had an amazing morning whale tour with Northland Discovery Tours. We saw 3 humpbacks and 7 orca whales! The orcas came right up to the boat and made for such a memorable tour! The boat was comfortable and the staff friendly from the moment you checked in. We were even given blankets before we left. There were about 40... 更多
Great time all around! Great weather, excellent guide/narrator, sure-handed and experienced captain, and not one but TWO icebergs near the St. Anthony harbour. And to top of the morning, a small pod (3 or 4) male Orca (Killer) Whales toyed with us, getting closer and closer to the boat until they were up and down right next to us, splashing... 更多
I took a morning tour. We saw a couple of whales and LOTS of icebergs. The narrator was great, I learned a lot about fish, whales, icebergs, Newfoundland, and St Anthony. This tour doesn't supply outer clothing, so be sure to bring your own. It's northern Newfoundland, so it's windy and chilly. Don't miss this tour if you are in... 更多
One of our two main reasons for taking the Viking Trail (Route 430 aka Northern Peninsula Highway) was to take the Northland Discovery boat tour from St Anthony. (The other was L'anse Aux Meadows, and I'll review that separately) The trip (Aug 20th) was well organized and I really enjoyed the running commentary I could hear. I loved the stories,... 更多
A great day on the water. we saw plenty of humpback whales, a number of large fin whales, some dolphins and an iceberg. What more could one ask for! Well, I was hoping to see a breach, but as luck would have it, a humpback started breaching as were away checking out a cave some distance away.. maybe next time... 更多
This trip was far more exciting that we expected. First, we had humpback whales surfacing and diving right near the boat. Later there was one breach, which was very loud, but we saw only the splash. As we came around a corner, a very large iceberg came into view. It was glistening white with blue veins, and very large. We... 更多
The whole journey it was non-stop whales and dolphins. A feeding freenzy. Both the captain and the guide did a great job. Very pleasant people. The weather was great as well. Boat was clean, in good shape, and safe for everyone. No shortage of viewing locations and it was not overcrowded.
We have never been on such a great whale watching tour. We saw lots of whales who were willing to surface and breach. We even got to see an iceberg ( unusual for this time of year). Tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. Great time.
