My grand kids love this place. every bit of it. They're learning and don't even know it. The workers are educated about their work and they're great with kids. Take a cup to hold the fish food (which is a quarter per handful). When you're ready to leave...be kind...if you see a family who looks like they're on a budget,... 更多
This is a wonderful experience for kids and adults. You go on a self guided tour of the various stages of trout sizes before they're trucked off to Taneycomo Lake by the thousand each month. The visitor center has information with a giant aquarium with different species of trout. An eight million dollar new visitor center is in final design... 更多
Fellow geeks who enjoy nature and "how it's made" should like the fish hatchery where you are treated to a video then allowed to wonder through the museum of stuffed birds etc. There's lots of interesting displays including the Black Widow spiders at the Rangers desk . Employees were informative and fun!
If you have kids, they will love it. The only cost is for fish food to feed the fish. Take plenty of quarters. Good to fill in time between other activities. Learning activity for all.
This is a must stop for anyone! Such a cool place for families or anyone really to explore. Loved coming here as a kid and still do every time we're in town. Make sure to watch the video they provide in the learning center! Above all else, it's FREE! Bring quarters so you can feed the fish :)
Awesome little gem - we stopped here in the morning - and it wasn't too packed. The kids enjoyed walking around inside and checking out all of the animals (taxidermy). We also enjoyed the different parts of the hatchery! It was a great lesson to the kids and very interesting! We must have spent about 2 hours here! Great Great... 更多
It is right above the dam where we fish and they stock 750,000 trout each year in Lake Taneycomo. The breeder tank was full of 18 to 24 inch fish and they had a display tank with 10 lb trout!
The Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery releases over a million trout every year into Lake Taneycomo. The visitors center is very informative, and the fish are fun to feed - that'll cost you a quarter or two :) The hatchery also has has some beautiful aquariums displaying Missouri's game fish and information about the history and running of the... 更多
