This trail is sublime. Easy riding, sweet river view, towering bluffs. Great amenities every so many miles. Cannot recommend it enough. We want to come back to do another portion of the trail. Also it seems like a very safe place to enjoy riding, walking, running, strollering, etc.
So I am a bit partial to this, since my driveway is connected to the actual trail, but it truly is 1 of the greatest sources of exercise we have in St. Charles county. A beautifully kept trail with very cool depots along the way. The Boonville Depot is especially a must-see. The do-over is absolute perfection. A very unique building and caboose. Great historical info on the plaques. A very enjoyable visit.
The Katy Trail is a place for cyclist/hikers. It is well maintained for an easy walk or biking. If you travel the length there are many places to see, eat and stay.
Great Park!!!! Great Festival!!!! take the time to travel any part of it. Katfish Katy and Katy Roundhouse are both great stops. And hey, don't forget the Santa Fe Trail monument
I went walking with my dog and boyfriend last June. It was a pretty trail, and it wasn't a difficult trail. Pretty much everyone we saw was riding a bike. I would say anyone capable of walking can do this trail because it is flat. There are restaurants near the trail too, although we didn't go to them.
