Originally visited in March of 2011. Happened to see road side signs off the interstate while driving through Jackson, MS, and decided to make time to visit. I had read Ms Welty's short story collection of stories in The Golden Apples in school and even though I didn't remember the specific stories any more, her writing had made a positive... 更多
The Eudora Welty house has been kept in the condition that Eudora herself would have lived in, a.k.a. piles of books everywhere! It's a great insight into Eudora's life and is a lovely house with beautiful gardens. The tour guides and staff are very friendly and welcoming, and have great knowledge of Eudora and other writers so can explain her... 更多
Eudora Welty, one of the great writers of our time and a bred-in-the-bone Southerner, left the house where she grew up and spent most of her life for us to see the modest circumstances that created and fed her splendid imagination. The house looks like she left it only yesterday and the gardens have been recreated as they were in... 更多
Beautiful tudor style home in old neighborhood just across the street from Belhaven College. Our guide was knowledgeable about the house and Ms. Welty. We very much enjoyed our tour.
Eudora Welty's house has been kept exactly as she left it, and it offers extraordinary insight into her as a woman and a writer. The gardens are lovely as well.
The tour here is pretty thorough. You will learn quite a bit about Welty, whether you are familiar with her work or not. We were the only ones on our tour, so it was extra special. The house is almost just the way she left it, so you can see her stacks of books and papers, and even the pigeon-hole... 更多
I have been a huge fan of Eudor Welty since reading one of her stories in a textbook in high school. Visiting her house and museum was a dream come true. There is a museum beside the house, which was free to visit. The garden behind the house was also free. A tour of the house was very inexpensive. The... 更多
What a beautiful environment Eudora had in which to write her southern-charming-books and stories! Eudora's house is a must to see. It's not often you get to "step into" a place where so many stories and books were written. Inspiring.
It's easy to believe Eudora Welty has just stepped out for a moment - her house looks lived in and is such a reflection of who she was. The books on every surface, the typewriter by the window - this is a home not a museum and it is fascinating to anyone who knows Ms Welty's work.
