The major exhibition 'Sitelines' from Natasha John's-Messenger is an impressive light, space and movement experience, in the same genre as James Turrell. Engaging and perplexing, it employs technology via video and artificial reality, and novel use of mirrors to draw you into the installation. There are other galleries with contemporary works (Heide II has fascinating sculptures by Michelle Nikou with... 更多
Heide reveals an interesting insight into the development of some of Australia's most notable modern artists, life and love. Spend a day or a couple of hours dipping into the stories and enjoy the art and gardens.
The art on display is varied, modern and fascinating. There are three distinct internal areas and also the large sculptures outside which I found the most enjoyable. A great outing for all ages and only 20-30mins from central Melbourne. Not a difficult walk but also pram and wheelchair suitable. Suggest not going on a rainy day as you won't get... 更多
Our family ate there on Mother's Day, the service was terrible, we had to ask our waitress for stuff that was supposed to be on the menu but forgot, had to have a chipped glass replaced twice and before we ordered our food we were reminded that we must be out by two. We were aware of that when we... 更多
This is much more than just a museum. In fact it comprises several distinct parts - Heide 1 is the historic home occupied by wealthy modernist art figures John and Sunday Reed and other creative figures such as Sidney Nolan. Heide 2 is the stunning modernist home built by the Reeds in the mid 1960s. Unfortunately, this was closed during... 更多
Had read an article about the Reeds and was intrigued by it. Caught train and bus ( took an hour) from the city to this attraction. There are several sections to enjoy. The gardens and sculptures, their first house (Heide 1) with artwork by Tucker, Boyd and others. Then their custom designed modern house with guest artwork (Heide 2) and... 更多
Every year when we visit our daughter we go to the Heide Museum. We like the place, the garden, the café. We watched ' Dancing Umbrellas ' but we were a little bit dissapointed.... We already have seen a better exhibition.......
This was a very interesting place to visit as I have not heard about the collectors/ founders John and Sunday Reed before I came to Melbourne. This museum has given me a great introduction into Australian modern art. I would strongly recommend to check out the events section on the website in order to see if a tour takes places.... 更多
Part of the food & wine festival, Heide Museum of Modern Art hosted the first camp out. We were warmly greeted by the Heide staff on arrival. After a couple of glasses of champagne along with olives and corn chips, we were taken on a tour of the property. Curator, Kendrah Morgan was knowledgable and passionate in her narration of... 更多
We were previously unaware of this wonderful museum which is a credit to the founders and the Victorian Gobvernment who have extended its capacity. Public transport is easy although you need to check timetables as the service is irregular at different times of the day. There are buses but the walk from Heidelberg station only takes 20-30 minutes. While not... 更多
