We were on a road trip through many states and this was a stop my son specifically requested. It was very easy to find. We were greeted by a nice lady we provided us with plenty of information and a video about the Sandhill cranes. She also provided us with a very detailed map on where we might be able... 更多
Visited the Visitor Center on a hot day in July. It is an easy access off interstate 10 & well worth the drive. Visitor Center is the best! Great displays accompanied by an interesting & informative video. Appropriate for all ages. Makes one appreciate the effort that's being made to protect these birds. Gift store stocked with interesting books, postcard,... 更多
I spent about three hours at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge enjoying the trails and the environment. The hikes were all about 45 minutes, but it was very hot and humid, with a heat index over 103, so please remember to take water with you so you can really enjoy everything the refuge has to offer. The visitor's... 更多
This is a free, family friendly attraction that is great for everyone. This refuge is right off Interstate 10. It has great exhibits and a well marked path that is easily accessible to everyone. It has benches spaced out so that you can sit and take in all the beautiful plants and grasses. The staff was friendly, very knowledgeable and explained... 更多
Visited on the way from New Orleans to Montgomery. A really good visitor centre and some very enthusiastic volunteers with lots of information about the bird. Nice nature walk too. Unfortunately we did not see any of the birds but there are 20,000 acres to search in but that did not spoil the visit.
We got to the refuge later in the afternoon so could not do the guided tour. The people in the Visitor center were very helpful and suggested we take the shorter walk. She also pointed out other roads we could travel on to see the cranes. You could feel their passion about saving this sub specie of 133 birds. Being... 更多
The person at the center was very welcoming and knowledgeable. She did advise us that we might not see many cranes in January although some people had reported a few sightings areas that she shared with us. A big function of the center is to help protect the remaining numbers of their population. These cranes aren't migratory, so you might... 更多
Despite a curious journey of wrong turns, unnamed roads, and doubt following google maps we arrived (seemed like by accident) to enjoy this site. Staff are knowledgeable and the trails are well marked with plant identification. We didn't see any cranes either but it is winter.
took a short hike with the children on a lovely afternoon passing through Gautier toward Biloxi . was beautiful, well kept & clean. The people in the travel center were very nice also and gave my kids lollipops on their way out . Great little city. Everyone's so kind here.
