We went to the Christmas tour last year. The house is decorated as it would have been when Charles and Edith Mayo lived there. The house is a work of art in it's self, but especially so during the holidays. I love history any way and the restored gardens and the continued renovation of the grounds is exceptional.
If you're a history buff and lover of historic homes, this is a must-see! I've lived around the Rochester area my whole life and honestly just never took the time to visit. Now I'm wondering why??!! Beautiful grounds, loads of history and some amazing tour guides. I will definitely be back, maybe during the fall for the colors? :)
I love seeing Mayowood. If you enjoy learning about history and you want to learn more about the people who devoted themselves to healing, this is a good tour. Interesting to see how these folks lived and to step into their world for an afternoon.
I had family in town visiting, so I wanted to show them some of the Rochester history. I checked the website and it looked like there was a $5/person admission to the museum and the grounds, no mention of days it was not open just the hours, so it appeared that it was open most of the time.
