The basilica looks like an Italian basilica, well kept, beautiful, with many little details you shouldn't miss. Visit, walk around, and if you can, attend a service.
I had a couple of hours to kill before having to leave the Twin Cities. The Basilica was in walking distance of my hotel, and I wanted to see the stained glass windows that others on this forum had commented on. This church is stunning! At the edge of Downtown Minneapolis it is very accessible. It has been renovated and church service are always open to public. If you are lucky you could stumble upon a wedding
We visited mid week just to see the building. It is beautiful, but the Cathedral in St. Paul is much nicer. Pay parking ramp is close by, but street parking is limited.

This is perhaps the most beautiful church I've been in in the U.S. and rivals those of Europe. I love the stained glass windows of Old Testament characters, stained glass windows with Stations of the Cross and the statuary, including the statue of Mary staring down from the canopy over the altar.
We toured the Basilica as part of an informal Twin Cities architectural tour. It happened to be on Christmas Eve. It was awe-filled, and decorated in Christmas glory. The music, the architecture, the beauty were all breathtaking.
